Mahindra GenZe electric

Mahindra Announces GenZE STS, an E-Scooter with Smartphone Integration

The Mahindra Group has made further inroads in the American market marked by the inauguration of the company’s Mahindra GenZe electric two wheeler facility in Southeast Michigan.
The Mahindra Group has recently inaugurated their GenZe electric two wheeler facility as well as the company’s North American Technical Center in Southeast Michigan, USA. These investments are further testimony to the company’s commitment to developing new age urban transportation solutions for cities around the world.
“Michigan provided us the perfect eco-system to step up our U.S. presence. We were able to draw on the terrific automotive engineering and manufacturing talent available in the state, to create industry leading initiatives for the United States,” said Anand Mahindra, Chairman, Mahindra Group. “The North American Technical Center and GenZe represent important disruptive product incubators for the Mahindra Group. Constant innovation focused on improving the lives of our consumers, employees and the communities they impact is at the core of Mahindra’s ‘Rise’ philosophy and we are delighted to see this come to fruition in the United States.”
The Mahindra Group isn’t new to the American market for the company already has a presence with its IT companies, namely Tech Mahindra and Bristlecone. Mahindra Tractors have also made strong inroads in the agriculture equipment market in the country. No doubt, the company intends to further its prospects in the American market with other products from its portfolio, however the current focus is GenZe.
The GenZe electric two wheeler has been designed and produced at the company’s manufacturing facility in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It is the only two wheeled electric vehicle of its kind in the United States currently. The GenZe offers specialized storage and can go a distance of 30 miles on a single charge. With a top speed of 30 mph, it doesn’t require a two wheeler license in most states either. Currently, Mahindra is looking at assembling up to 9,000 units per year, however the facility can be ramped up to 20,000 units if demand increases.

Designed as a vehicle for students and urban commuters, the GenZe should find takers amongst those looking to break away from congestion, gas price hikes or the lack of parking. Its unique design and fantastic storage space on board also makes it a convenient last-mile delivery vehicle – a segment of the market that holds a lot of potential for a vehicle such as this.
